Summary...
The construction of the UH X2 is relatively simple requiring
only basic hand tools and common materials. Keep in mind that although the UH X2
does indeed cool as well or better than most available conventional socket heatsinks, I
believe that only those in need of freeing up all their motherboard's DIMM slots will find
constructing their own UH X2 an attractive and worthwhile project. I would also be
interested in anyone else's UH X2 type project that perhaps adapts Nidec's larger brother to the
Gamma 28 the Gamma 30 (available from PLYCON
Computers). I myself could not figure out a way to gracefully attach the Gamma
30 to the FDP-32 hence my choice of the dual Gamma 28 blower setup.
I have already received many emails regarding UH X2 projects
that were launched a while back just using the peek photo I presented in a news update. That alone proves the
simplicity of the project as detailed instructions were not required nor used.
Please also note that if you give PLYCON
Computers a call, they just might sell you a dual Gamma 28 setup including the 4 pin
power connector and appropriate bolts and spacers all ready to go saving you a bit of time
hunting down those parts on your own.
Special thanks to PLYCON Computers for supplying the Gamma 28 blowers for this project.
